Hernia Belts, Hernia Supports, Bandages, and Hernia Trusses for Inguinal Hernia or Femoral Hernia Conditions.
It's one of mankind's most frequent medical complaints, accounting for approximately 15 % of all hospital admissions. It is hernia - but do you know just what a hernia is? How do we get them and what can we do about them? Let's find out.
The word hernia literally means a protrusion. A hernia may involve a rupture of tissue or, more often, a distending or stretching of tissue. In men - who make up 75 % of all hernia sufferers - hernias most often occur to the groin. This can be caused by excessive straining when having a bowel motion. This is called an inguinal hernia. The majority of hernia cases, however, are ultimately due to inherited or congenital weaknesses of the abdominal or other muscles. Hernias are, therefore, often seen to run in families.
For non-strangulated and non-incarcerated hernias, many of our supports and trusses offer symptomatic relief. For further explanation please see our Hernia Bio-Mechanics Section
There are two kinds of trusses for hernias, the spring truss and the umbilical truss. The spring truss is worn around the waist and acts as a support, while the umbilical truss is worn around the midsection. Trusses also come in different sizes and are usually worn under briefs. Some of our selection include: Bort Herniafix Spring Truss with Round Pelotte,Bort Herniafix Elastic Spring Truss with Round Pelotte Short Spring, as well as Bort Herniafix Elastic Spring Truss Wanatomic Pelotte
Hernia belts are lightweight and made so that your movement is not restricted while you are recovering. These belts were designed to be worn over briefs, are made with adjustable straps and are lined with foam for extra comfort. The foam compression pads provide gradual pressure and support to the weakened muscles. Some of our selection include: Soft Form Hernia Belt and Deluxe Woven Double Hernia Guard.
Abdominal bindings are made of elastic and provide uniform compression and support of the abdominal muscles. They can be fastened around the waist by Velcro and are lined with foam for added comfort. Such as: Bort Umbilical Herna Bandage
Hernia briefs look like regular briefs except they are made with spandex and foam pads for extra support and are designed to provide rupture relief. The material is convenient because it is lightweight, cool and washable and is easy to wear. Such as:Soft form Hernia Brief.
